BOWLING.
The local green presented a very animated appearance yesterday afternoon, when seven visiting rinks uere present, and had a most enjoyable afternoon’s play. Three rinks from Otaki and four from Shannon took part. Mr J. M. Barr (president) welcomed the visitors, and expressed the Club’s pleasure . at seeing so many present. The results of play were as fol-. lows: — Morgan (s), Shannon 28 v. Christie (s) 13; Barr (s) 30 v. Gunning (s), Shannon, 13; AVilmot (s) ; Otaki, 27 v. Bo vis (s), Shannon 19; AA'oods (s) 2? v. Smith (s), Otaki, 17; Satherley (s), Otaki, 28 v. Nye (s) 13; Thomson (s) 20 v. Murray (s), Shannon, 16. the conclusion of play, Mr Freeman, on behalf of Otaki, and Mr Murray, on behalf of Shannon, expressed themselves as very pleased with the day’s outing, and also spoke appreciatively of the refreshments provided by the ladies. Cheers were given, and the singing of “For they are jolly good fellows” concluded a most enjovable afternoon. Fox ton howlers will visit Otaki on AA'ednesday next. All those wishing to make the trip are asked to put their names on the blackboard.
