BREACHES OF AWARD.
At yesterday’s S.M. Court the Inspector of Awards . (Mr Louden) proceeded against W. S. Walls for a breach of the Wellington Industrial District Electrical Workers’ Award. In outlining the ease, Mr Louden -aid that he was not going- to ask for a heavy penalty, as the cause of the offence was evidently due to a misunderstanding on the part of the employer. The offence lay in the fact that lie had not paid the proper wage in respect to over time worked by bis employees. He then gave details in connection with the times worked and remuneration paid. .Mr Bergiu represented defendant end pointed out that he had been misled by carelessly reading the .Award. Therejiad been no attempt to defraud. Defendant was fined .C 5, with costs V - and four employees, J. Spoiling, G. N. Portman, G. P. Hough, and 8. Jenson were each fined HI/- with costs 7 - for breaches of tin* Award. E. Beech on a similar id targe was also fined 10/- with costs 8/-.
