BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.
A meeting of the above was held on Thursday evening, presided over by the president, Air AI. E. Perreau. There were also present: All’s AlcAfurrav, Revs. Perym'an and Walton, and Messrs J. K. Hornblow, T. W. Winstanley and the secretary (Mr F. Rimmer). The tender of Air Tollison was accepted for the removal of the fence on the Court House section and it was reported .that the work was being; carried out., A discussion took place as to fhe formation of the footpath. The general opinion was that the Borough Council should lay down the path as il would he used as a public footpath. The Council, however? had not replied to the Society’s communication in this connection. It was decided not to take any further action until a reply was received from the Council. The tender of Air Newtli for laying down concrete path in Ihakara Garden was accepted, the work to lie proceeded with at once, and earned out tu the satisfaction of Ml* Winstanley and the president. The president was authorised to arrange for concrete bases for seats in the cimet house enclosure. The work of the secretary was favourably commented upon, and hm services recognised. It was decided to endeavour to d,tain from the Council a definite annual grant or subsidy. .Walters of finance were discussed and accounts passed for payment. It was -decided to hold, meetings quarterly in future, except for extra ordina r y business.
