CYCLIST AND MOTOR CAR COLLISION.
HEAVY DAMAGES AWARDED , CYCLIST. Christchurch, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day Hugh John Dyke Acland was awarded £750 general dafnages and £l2O 17/- special damages in an action against Peter Wood, flourmiller, arising out of a collision between i Jain tiff's motor cycle and defendant’s motor car at- a street intersection in the city. Plaintiff said the collision was caused through defendant giving insufficient' warning in his intention to turn. As a result he was knocked over and suffered a compound fracture of both bones of the left leg above the ankle. Consideration of a non-suit point that Acland had been travelling at excessive speed and tha't this in itself was an effective cause of the accident was held over, . _
