RATANA AND JAPAN.
GOVERNMENT URGED TO TAKE DRASTIC STEPS. “A representative meeting of the Ngati-Raukawa Tribe was beld at Otaki to discuss Ratana’s recent statement with reference to having married the Maori people to the Japanese race, and also the statement that the salvation of the Maori race was hr the hands of Japan. The following resolution was passed: “That this meeting of the higati-liuukawa fribe expresses its unalterable loyalty to His Majesty King George V j tliat they will always do their duty together with their pakeha brothers to maintain law and order, and if needs be, light, as we have shown before, the cause of the British Empire under whose greaL guidance, rule and protection we have been able to live in peace and happiness, and Lb at owing to Lhe disloyal tendencies shown by the Ratana movement, this meeting strongly urge that the Government take drastic steps Ld deprive all those who are in any way connected with the above movement from all privileges and benelits enjoyed under the British iiag, and further, that they be prevented from participating in any further Parliamentary elections.”
