MOTORIST CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER. Oamaru, Last Night. in flic Supreme Court to-day Ernist Hesel wood was charged with manslaughter in connection with i lie death of James Robert Young. He was also charged under the Motor Vehicles’ Act with driving negligently and carelessly so as to cause tlie death of Young, through being intoxicated while driving a car. The evidence showed that deceased with party of four others, went to the Georgetown Hotel, where they had several drinks. They also had at least one drink on tlie road home. \\ hen near town the car swerved and Young’s head struck a telegraph pole, causing the injuries from which he died. I lie jury after a short retirement returned a verdict of “not guilty.”
