DUNEDIN WOOL SALES.
Dunedin, January 24th. The second of the series of Dunedin wool sales for the present season was eonuneneed at. eight o’clock this evening. There is a total catalogue of 18,0(15 bales to be offered by three selling agents. Buyers were stronger numerically than at the December sales. Bradford was again the mainstay throughout and operated in all classes. Continental buyers were mainly interested in low and medium wools. The sale opened somewhat slow, but brightened before fifty lots had been disposed of and at the close, bidding was quite keen. The first catalogue offered consisted of 2,308 bales, and of these 110 were passed. As regards prices, there was little difference as compared with the December sale, except in the caset of wasty and heavy-conditioned Merinos, which depreciated slightly in value and line lialfbreds sold at quite up to last sale’s prices, super’s selling at from 30d to 32d and inferior at 25d to 28Ad. Merinos were irregular and shabbier kinds were not keenly sought after. Crossbreds were somewhat slow of sale and prices were a little erratic. Super crossbreds fetched 28d to 29d and second quality 25-Jd to 264 d. Bellies and pieces were well competed for and sold at late rates. Halfbred pieces brought up to 25 2d; Merino pieces to 242 and crossbred pieces as high as 23|d.
