DANNEVIRKE CALEDONIAN SPORTS.

SUCCESS OF LOCAL COMPETITORS. J. KIRKLAND WINS THE HOLDEN CUP. Two local competitors, Messrs 11. Reid and .J. Kirkland, who competed at the Dannevirke Caledonian Sports yesterday were successful in annexing £27 in prize money and J. Kirkland secured the Holden Cup (value 10 guineas). Kirkland won the 150 yards (Maiden), 220 yards (Open) and 440 yards (Open) and H Reid was second in the 440 yards (Open), second in the one mile (Open) and third in the half-mile (Open). We heartily congratulate them on their success.

Mr Reid circulated copies of the local sports programme to be held iii February and stated that a number of competitors promised to take part in the local meeting.
