DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.
COUNCIL URGES PUBLIC
MEETING. At last night’s meeting of the Borough Council, the District High School question cropped up. After a short discussion the Mayor moved the following motion, seconded by Cr Bryant: “That the Council deplores the serious delay on the part of the Education Department in establishing a District High School in the town, the statutory petition for which was forwarded by the School Committee through the Wanganui Education Board about seven months ago, the petition being supported by both of these bodies; further, the Council heartily supports the request of the Chamber of Commerce for a public meeting to meet the Senior Inspector. In moving the motion the Mayor said that it was time something was done in the matter by the Department. They must let the Department see that they were not to be played with. The motion was carried.
