SHANNON BRIDGE.
The Moutoa settlers are very indignant at the delay on the part of the authorities in not taking definite and immediate steps to have the Shannon bridge repaired in .order to resume communication with Shannon. They have been seriously handicapped and are suffering financial loss through the extra mileage m conveying their cream to the Shannon factory, which is now conveyed via Koputaroa. Apart from this their daily mail service has keen cut down to thrice weekly. Speaking to a Moutoa settler yesterday, we were informed that the present bridge site will serve for all time provided groins are erected to divert I lie current from the eastern bank and with little expense the new span can be erected and communication established in two or three weeks. ‘l* oxton has nothing to lose by assisting us to arouse the authorities to action in the matter and I am that so little interest is being taken here,” he concluded.
