BEACH IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE.
We are in receipt of the annual report and balance-sheet of the Foxton Beach Improvement Committee, which states inter alia: — During tiie year the Beach Hall has been improved more than our balance sheet shows bv the efforts of the Beach residents, lining the inside walls six feet high and the back end right up to ceiling;height: they raised the bigger portion of the cost and did the labour free. The committee planted 5,000 shelter trees this year, the largest, consignment ever undertaken. Bv their efforts the electric light has been secured for. Manawatu Heads/ on the following terms: 10/- per year meter rent, 30/- per year for light and. hot point, up to 40 units, over 40 units 9d per unit net extra. To those who liave signed.up the light will be available for the coming holidays. The three years’ free use-of‘the beach hall for the school will expi: next October; the - attendance is nov 40 scholars. The committee desire to thank the beach residents for their work at- the hall, the Foxton Harbour Board for the extra grant this year, the Foxton Borough; Council and Mr Brown, care of trees; i and Mr H. A. Brace, auditor. Special thanks are due to Capt A Larsen as custodian of hall, for his labour, and tiie interest he takes in everything concerning the welfare of the beach. I,t will be seen by the balance sheet our donations from the beach householders are very small. The committee would like more help from them if their interests are to be looked after. The receipts totalled £l3l ’and the bank ovedraft was reduced from £145 19/9 to £B4 16/8.
