ALL BLACKS PLAY IN FOG

HAMPSHIRE EASILY BEATEN London, Deeemb. 11^. The match between the New Zealanders and Hampshire was played on Hie Association ground at Portsmouth in the presence of 15,000 spectators. The New Zealand team was Nepia, Hart, Lucas, Svenson, Cook, McGregor, Mill, Parker, Irvine, Donald, Harvey, M. Brownlie, West, White, Guppies. After half an hour’s play Mill set his backs moving. Svenson passed in to Donald, who scored. Nepia failed. Just before the interval Cook and Parker figured in a brilliant dribbling rush and the former crowned a splendid effort with a try. White converted. At half time the score was: All Blacks 8, Hampshire nil.

So far the game had not been brilliant but very hard and very close. In the second spell the All Blacks combination asserted itself and except for a valiant opening attack, Hampshire were kept on the defensive during the whole time. Half way through the second spell a heavy fog descended on the ground and it intensified to such an extent that it became quite impossible to distinguish the players and on several occasions play was held up owing to the ball being lost. The game ended All Blacks 22, Hampshire nil.
