BOOKMAKERS HEAVILY FINED.
Christchurch, Last Night. At tlie Magistrate’s Court this afternoon. Joseph Nolira, an Assyrian hawker, was fined £25 for loitering in Cathedral Square for the purpose of betting and £lO on each of two charges of having made bets at totalisator odds. It was alleged that defendant was acting as agent for a bookmaker. William Henry Pullen, was fined £IOO for using bis tobacconist shop as a common gaming bouse.
