NEW GOVERNOR ARRIVES.
CORDIAL WELCOME AT.WELLINGTON TO-DAY.
Major-General Sir Charles Fergusson, the new Governor-General, and Lady Alice Fergusson, arrived in Wellington early this morning by the s.s. Ruahine. The Vice-Regal party comprise Their Excellencies Sir Charles Fergusson and Lady Alice Fergusson, Miss Fergusson, Mr G. J. Little (private secretary), and Captain C. J. Vernon-Wentworth, A.D.C. After the arrival official preliminaries and welcomes had been carried out the swearing-in ceremony took pace at Parliament Buildings, followed by a salute of 19 guns. A speech of welcome was delivered by the Prime Minister on behalf of the Dominion and His Excellency replied. Shipping and public buildings were beflagged.
