SEARCH FOR CRIMINALS.
Christchurch, Decent. 5. When the steamer Waiteinatu arrived at Lyttelton this morning from Newcastle she was thoroughly searched by three detectives and two policemen, evidently in the beliel 1 that some Australian criminal was aboard. No arrest was made. It is stated that the .police in the Commonwealth and the Dominion are now keeping in closer touch than formerly.
