MANAWATU RACECOURSE TRUSTEES.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Manawatu Racecourse Trustees was held in the Racing Club’s olfiee yesterdav afternoon, and presided over by Mr J. Kebbell. The following is the Chairman’s report:—■ “The Trustees have the honour to report that the credit balance at the\ Post Office Savings Bank is £ls 5/-, the balance sheet and the Post Office bank book lie on the table and are open for inspection. “The race course during the past twelve months again shows the result. of progressive action by the lessees, the Foxton Racing Club, they have completed the installation of water service and lavatory accommodation at a cost of some £2OO, making a very desirable improvement in the comfort of members and public. We are also pleased to note that the tree planting is still going on, about a thousand more trees having been planted this year. “We understand that if the next race meeting is as successful as is anticipated, the Club hope next year to build a new Stewards’ stand to take the place of the present unsuitable building. “The Trustees desire to congratulate the Club on the public spirit displayed in offering the racecourse to the Defence Department for the use of 'their training camps, which must result in a considerable increase of business in the town. “Next year, we believe, the Club proposes to repaint some of the buildings on the course, thus keeping the buildings up to that state of first-class order that has always been in evidence in the past. “In conclusion, we desire to express our satisfaction at the cordial relations existing between the Club and the Trustees, and venture to believe the same will always be maintained. We wish the Club a xst successful meeting next month.”

The report was adopted. A vote of sympathy was passed to Messrs O. Robinson, Geo. Coley, A. King and A. E. Admore, in their illnesses, and hope was expressed that they would soon be restored to health.
