OBITUARY.
MR R. T. BELL, AGED 47 YEARS. Mr R. T. Bell passed away at Palmerston NT. on Sunday, after a lirief illness at the comparatively early age of 47 years. Upwards of a quarter of a century ago deceased was associated with the late Mr Robert Gardner, of Palmerston N. in flaxmilling operations at Paiaka, Koputnroa, being later appointed a Government hemp grader. lie then started flax milling on his own account in the Bulls and Turakina districts, later purchasing property in the lower Rangiotu, where he continued the milling of flax, also acquiring interests in Tokomaru and Moutoa. He was one of the original promoters of |he ALikeinat'banking sehe me over three years ago and was a member of the Makerua Drainage Hoard, besides occupying the position of chairman of the ManawatuOroua River Board since its inception three years ago. At the time of his demise tlu T deceased gentleman was managing-director of both the Whitaunui and Tokomaru flax mills while a vice-presidency to the New Zealand Flnxmillers’ Association was preceded by presidency to the same body, a seat on the Mannwnfu A. and P. Association committee in 1919 brings another indication of his multitudinous interests. ITis untimely death will he deeply regretted by a large circle of friends. The deceased leaves a widow and one daughter, Sybil, of Wellington, to mourn their loss.
