CITIZENS’ QUEEN TOPS THE POLL.

The voting in connection with the election of a Queen for the Carnival terminated at 10 o'clock on Saturday night. A large number of residents crowded round the carnival office to await results, and it was not long before Miss Madge 'Kirkland, Citizens’ Queen candidate, was declared to be elected to the position of Queen. The Sports Queen candidate (Miss D. Morgan) was runnerup. The voting was as follows: — Citizens Queen, 24,107; Sports, 17,447; Farmers’ 13,500, Fire Brigade 10,410.

The total to band so far is £BIB <3/-.
