DEFEAT CARDIFF BY 16 TO 8. FIERCE AND EXCITING GAME. London, November 22. Tlxc New Zealanders revisited Wales to-day, meeting Cardiff in the presence of 40,000 people, and, after an exciting game, which, at times was; very hotly contested , they won by 16 points to 8. Tremendous enthusiasm prevailed among the crowd. The weather was fine and the turf in excellent order. The All Blacks’ team was as follows: — Full-back: G. Nepia; three-quar-ters : K. S. Svenson, H. W. Brown, F. W. Lucas; fivo-eighths: A. E. Cooke (2), M. F. Nieholls (1); half

initial attack, Lucas driving the Welshmen back from centre-field, with a fine line-kick. Both sides opened out and exerted great pressure. Play was for a time in New Zealand quarters, but afterwards shifted to Cardiff’s' line. Then Nepia g°t possession, dashed through the opponents and- passed, almost enabling Svenson s to get-over. Nepia’s powerful kicking was a feature of play at this period. The Cardilf forwards were rather handicapped by over-keenness and after 23 minutes’ play, local off-side infringements gave Nieholls a chance to place/ a magnificent goal from ten yards from the centre. N.Z. 3, Cardiff nil. Strenuous 1 play resulted in a couple of Cardiff men suffering minor injuries. Off-side play by Porter gave Cardiff a chance at goal but the kick was charged down. After half-an-hour’s, play Richardson
gave a long pass to Lucas, who dived. over at the corner, Nieholls found the angle _ too much for him. N.Z. 6, Cardiff nil. New Zealand’s formation improved as the game progressed, the forwards being specially prominent. The passing of the Welsh backs was much too dilatory. Just as half time approached White scored as the result of a. fine bit of following up. Nich'olls made no mistake about the goal and the spell ended: N.Z. 11, Cardiff nil. - On the resumption of play the pace became tremendous. Parker, playing right wing, kicked.,.across field under the posts and Nieholls, right on the spot, scored a try to which lie added the goal. N.Z. 16, Cardiff nil. About, this timxj, Porter, wlio was playing aggressively, was caught off-side and Wallace kicked a penalty goal for Cardiff. N.Z. 16, Cardiff 3. Deleheay immediately, afterwards scrambled round the side of the scrum and -scored, Wallace converting. N.Z. 16, Cardiff 8. ' The players became somewhat heated and several were temporarily hurt, the game being intensely exciting to the end No further score was registered and flic All Blacks emerged victors.
