SUMMER SHOW.
The Foxton Horticultural Society’s Summer Show was held in the Town Hall yesterday and was a very successful exhibition. president of the Society, Rev. W. Walton, formally opened the Show in the afternoon, and in doing so remarked on the improvement shown in the number of entries for the garden classes, and also on the record number of entries. The exhibition called forth very favourable commnet from judges of the various sections, Mr Shailer remarking on the high standard of exhibits in the cut blooms, and the judge of the sweet peas, Mir Mason, characterised the sweet pea exhibits as really excellent. The decorative class was characterised by a high "order of merit, particularly the decorated table section, Mi’s Bradfield remarking that they were the best she had yet seen. Entries were very satisfactory in all sections, and the staging of the exhibits was well done, the whole exhibition presenting a very creditable appearance. Those responsible for the arrangements are to be congratulated upon the success of the show and it is distinctly encouraging to the Society to know that it is receiving the support which such an institution deserves.
