FARMERS’ QUEEN COMMITTEE GARDEN PARTY.
i The garden party arranged by the fanners’ Queen Committee was hold at Mr W. E. Barber’s residence, Motuiti, yesterday. Despite the rain, the attendance was good and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. Sheep guessing, dart throwing and target shooting competitions and tug-of-wars were keenly contested by the men folk. Afternoon tea was served on the verandah, and after wards Madame Mosquito, the talented fortune teller, was much in demand. Competitions drawn during the afternoon resulted as follows: — Box of handkerchiefs, Mrs McLaren; rooster: Mrs Delany; sheep guessing, correct weight 193 Jibs., won by Mr D. R. Barron, 1931b5. Mr Barron kindly donated the prize back to the funds. During the afternoon several selections were rendered by the Foxlon Silver Band.
