QUEEN ALEXANDRA S BAND CONCERT.

* ROYA Ij THE ATFt E TO-XIGHT. What promises to he one of the most successful functions in connection uitli the Fox ton Band Carnival, will ho the week-end entertainments given hy the above band, from Wanganui. The Band arrived in Fox ton this afternoon and were welcomed on Easton Park, at the Fire Brigade Queen’s Sports. This evening the hand will partide through Main St. and then to the Royal Theatre, where they wi 11 present a. high-class entertainment. On Sunday, a river excursion is being arranged, and a grand sacred musical recital will take place in .the Town Hall at 8.15.

Amongst the items for to-night’s programme is the heavy selection, “Faust,” a musical sketch “The Cows are in the Cotton,” and it descriptive piece “McGregor’s Wedding.” Amongst (lie various items on Sunday night’s programme will be the well-known hymn “Lead Kindly Light," the hand's choice hymn test at the recent Palmerston X. contest. Other items are “William Te.lh” “Lost Chord,” and the tone poem “La Hey.” The Band items will he interspersed with vocal items by local and visiting soloists. The proceeds of the effort are in aid of the Firf Brigade Queen candidate.
