IMPRESSTXG NEW GOVERNMENT. NO OPPORTUNITY WILL BE LOST. In I lie House of Representatives yesterday, Mr L. M. Isitt (Christchurch X.) asked whether tlie Government would take any steps to impress on the Imperial Government the strong desire of this Dominion that the Singapore base be proceeded with. The Prime Minister replied that Cabinet had not yet had an opportunity to discuss the matter. Tn any case, the parties had not settled down sufficiently in England to consider the question. "Knowing the minds of my colleagues as I do," said Mr Massey, “no opportunity will be lost in the case of a new Government coming iii io power in England of impressing on it the idea lirmlv held by Australia and Xew Zealand in regard to Singapore.”
