SACRED CONCERT.
The Carnival Sports Queen committee organised a very successful and much appreciated sacred concert in the Town Hall on Sunday night, after Church service. There was a good attendance and the programme contained nothing to offend the religions susceptibilities of church-goers. The organisers were Messrs P. J. Jack. "Winstanley, E. Bryant and Chas Simmons. The overture, “Holy City,” was played by Miss Healey. The vocalists were Airs Carmnnt, Aliss I. and Af. Patterson. D. and IT. Alorgnn, Molly Downes, Messrs Barron. Reid, Chalk, and the Maori male quartette and Afaster Ha mu. Air C. Simmons contributed an instrumental item and AIY Hornblow a monologue.
The accompaniments were played by Misses Patterson and Healey. At the conclusion MY Winstanley, on behalf of the committee, thanked the performers and the public and siated that it had been decided to i onlinue the concerts on similar lines during the carnival period.
