METHODIST LADIES’ GUILD.
The members of the above held a social n fternyon and sale of work yesterday in the supper-room of the Town Hall. Favoured with fine weather, despite several counter-attrac-tions, the effort quite came up to expectations, the object being to aid the circuit fund. The promoters wish to thank all, both donors and visitors. who helped to make the function a .success. The following stallholders did good business during the afternoon: —Sewing stall; Mesdames Cowley and Signal; cake stall: Mesdumcs .[. <4. Honore, C'lirystail and Rimmcr; produce stall: Miss Walker and Mr \\ . \\ nlker; sv.eeis stall: Misses F. Chalk and Permian; tea rooms: Mesdames Parkin. Seadden, Chalk and Thornbo r. The above were ably assisted by Mesdames Walker, Huntley. Osboldstonc. H. Osborne, and others.
A “best rose” competition brought out a number ot blooms, several of which were of excellent quality. So near did some of the competitors run one another, that in more than me instance the judges had to bracket the prize-winners together. The awards were: —One. cream of white rose i Ist Mrs 1,. Bullard; 2nd Mrs J. G. Honore: li.c. Airs A. Jonson. One red rose: Ist Airs Christie: 2nd: Aliss Walker and Airs A. Jenson. One pink rose: Ist Airs <■- Honore; 2nd. Airs Murphy and Xur St* Oodd. One. any other variety: Mrs L. Bullard. Airs Healey, Airs A. Jonsoii, 2nd Aim Barr. Three varieties. 1 of each: Ist Xursc Oodd.
