Oct. 18th Yesterday afternoon the L ivin Bowling Club’s green was officially opened by Mr Sultan, president, in tli. presence, of a large sum bee of bowlers it ’d visitors Rinks reo. - ■ stilting Ps.'-netsfon N., Shannon, Eexton, and Island Bay Clubs took part is piav until interrupted by a heavy downpour of rain. The outing gave promise of oVng very enjoyable, the green, despite a little heaviness duo to the recent rains, being in pleasant playing order. When about 13 heads had been reached rain intervened and play was abandoned. I’oxton sent two rinks consisting of Parkcs. Rollings, Healey and .Smith (s) and Walker, Walton, McKoown. Ad more (s). who showed good promise of registering a win each, the scores being: Smith 15 v. Brown 8: Ad more It! v. Clements 8. The afternoon tea was particularly tasty and much appreciated. The President (Mr Sultan) took the opportunity of presenting to Mesdames Brown and Harkness silver buttons suitably inscribed in recognition of the assistance they bad given the club in the past. These two ladies were elected life members of the Bowling Club at last annual meeting.
Yesterday afternoon a working bee was employed at the green in advancing the preparations a step further in readiness for opening day next week. * A meeting of Commit toe will be held at 7.3(1 o'clock to-morrow evening.
