RUGBY LEAGUE.

Foxton defeated Shannon on Saturday by 10 points to .1.0 in a close, even game. Tries were scored for Foxton by Martin, Reid, Dooley, Westwood and Kirkland and goals bv Wi.siwuod and Kirkland.

The gold medal donated for the best player was awarded to A. Lenihnn, of Shannon, who played a fine game throughout. Mr F. Shaw refereed.

On Saturday next a first-class game should result from the match arranged between the local Senior team and Petone al Easton Park. Both teams play Last, open Rugby, and patrons should he well rewarded for their attendance.
