SOCIAL AFTERNOON.

The Presbyterian Ladies' Social Guild, and P.W.M.U., held a combined open social afternoon in the: schoolroom on Wednesday. There was a good attendance, including many members from ihe sister churches, who were cordially welcomed. Songs by Mcsdantes Codd and Downes and a pianoforte selection by Miss Tda Speirs, were much appreciated. An original com petition caused interest and amusement and was won by Mrs Thomson. Dainty afternoon ten was dispensed hv the Guild Indies and the Rev. Mr McDonald briefly explained the work of the P .AY.ALU. and the reason of ilie gathering. A sum of £3 3/was contributed, which will he sent the Palmerston X. P.A. towards ihe expenses of the PAY.ALU. conference to be held at Palmerston N. in November.
