MR. DINNIE FAREWELLED.
At the Albion Hotel, Shannon, on Friday evening last, Mr A. Dinnie, who has been Engineer-in-Charge of the Mangahao hydro-electric works, and who has been transferred to a similar position at Arapuni, was accorded a farewell by members of the North Wellington branch of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers. Air J. R. Hughes, Borough Engineer of Palmerston North, on behalf of the gathering presented Mr Dinnie with a case of pipes and a tobacco pouch. He said the members of the branch were sorry Air Dinnie was leaving the district, but wished him every success in his association with the largest hydroelectrc scheme in the southern hemisphere. He said their guest had always endeavoured to make their visits to Mangahao pleasant and instructive and they would look forward to the time when they could visit Arapuni and receive further hospitality. Messrs Meara and Waters, representing the power boards of the district, and Air G. P. Anderson, of the Public Works Department, added a few words of farewell, paying a tribute to their guest’s unfailing courtesy.
Ali' Dinnie, in returning thanks for the presentation, said that the 4i years he had spent in Shannon bad been most pleasant.
