THE MARTIAN TEMPERATURE.
A CHILLY WOULD.
Washington, September 28. Indications mat the temperature on Mars is low, anti the atmosphere rare are announced by the (Jarnegie institute as the result of observations at the Californian Observatory, during the recent approach of Lhe planet. The measurements of the temperature and heat radiation were made with a vacuum thermo-couple attached to the IUU inch reflecting telescope at Mount Wilson. The' measurements indicate that in the tropical region of -Mars at noon, the temperature is id degrees above freezing point} and the mean temperature over the polar cap is degrees below zero Fahrenheit, lhe average temperature in the tropics between the Martian sunrise and y o’clock is 10 degrees above zero. The maximum heat comes at the Martian noon.
