ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
CHILD’S FATAL SLIDE
John Ken. Bannerman, the seven-year-old and only son of Mr and Mrs E. G. Bannerman, of Ruahine St., Palmerston N., who was admitted to hospital suffering from head injuries sustained in a fall from the chute at Terrace End Park, died about mid-night last night. According to the statements of two of his playmates, deceased was sliding down the chute with both legs over the side, and about halfway down fell to the ground, striking his head though it is not known what actually caused him to fall. He was quite conscious when admitted to hospital but took a bad turn and expired at midnight. An inquest will he held. YOUNG FARMER SUICIDES. Auckland, Last Night. Francis James Book, aged about 26 years, single, a farmer, committed suicide by hanging at Kohanga near Tuakau. Deceased was the employer of a youth who was admitted to probation a few weeks ago for forging deceased’s name to cheques. At the inquest it was stated that the above occurrence and financial worries had preyed on deceased’s mind.
