MANGAHAO MEDICAL COMMITTEE

CONFER WITH HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

A conference took place at Shannon yesterday between a committee of the Palmerston N. Hospital Board consisting of Sir .Tames Wilson (chairman), Messrs J. Tv. Hornblow, ■T. Vincent, W. Murdoch, and the Board secretary (Mr Phillips) and the Mangahao medical committee. Drs. McDonald and Mellwrnith were also in attendance. The object of the conference was to discuss matters in connection with the r: minnation of medical attention,* nursing and hospital treatment of men engaged at Mangahao hydroelectric works. Proposals were discussed which will be submitted to the Board for confirmation at its next meeting, which -provide for existing arrangements being continued to the end of the year. The committee then proceeded to Arapeti and Mangahao and conferred with the nurse.

It was pointed out that: three hundred men would he employed at the works up till the end of the year and probably ibis number would he retained if work was continued on the proposed construction of further dams for water conservation purposes.
