RONGOTEA QUEEN CARNIVAL.
The coronation of Miss Rita Saunders, of Dlen Oroua, as queen of the Ronyotca Carnival, took pin<-f io the Ronyolea Hall on Thursday night before a crowded audience. The ceremony was a brilliant success, the jjroeessioiial. enthronement, set tiny, dresses, etc., presented a yoryenus scene, which kept the uudience in wrapt attention for two hours. Miss La France and Lester Sinclair contributed several items duriny the ceremonial and the Hawaiian orchestra (Palmerston X.) supplied illusion] items. The bestowal of Royal recognition and honours upon well-known settlers was the signal for much applause and hilarity. The Maids of Honour were Msscs Mavis I.iggins. Mollie flower and (trace T.ilhgow, accompanied by flower girls, and pages. The eorontition officials were: Messrs W. .1. Smith (Lord of the Realm). F. Edmonds (Lord. High Chancellor). .1. K. TTornldow ( Mesjer of Ceremonies). Miss Mona Scott (Mistress of the Robes), Air John Holder (Court Trumpeter). At the conclusion the queen and maids of honour were made the recipients of handsome presents.
