FALSE PRETENCES.
AN IMPUDENT IMPOSTER, Wellington, Last Night. John Lennox, aged 58, a plumber, was committed for sentence to-day on several charges of false, pretences. It was stated in evidence that accused went to various tradesmen and represented that he was one McDonald, a builder of Wellington, or a successful bush contractor. Fie had ordered and received clothes for himself, watches and chains, while for his “wife,” lie obtained boots and shoes. The frauds were most impudent ones and accused’s effrontery deceived all.
