ROYAL PICTURES
On Friday (to-morrow) night the Eo\:J Theatre presents for the first, lime in this town, the latest starring vehicle of the celebrated American beauty, Rubye De Rcmer, the title of the picture in which she is appearing being “Luxury.” This is the second picture Miss De Remer has made since her selection by Paul TTelleu, the famous French artist. as the most beautiful woman in America, Both of these pictures were made especially for the Arrow Film Corporation and in this, the second one to he released, Miss de Remer is said to have the finest vehicle of her career.
On Saturday evening “The Brass Bottle.” Maurice Tourneur’s fantastic comedy-drama from the novel of the same name by F. Anstey, will lie the First National screen novelty at the Royal. The story is interpreted by an all star east including Harry Myers, Ernest Torrence, Charlotte Merriam and Barbara La Man*. "IF WINTER COMES.” Of all the screen adaptations of popular novels the height of perfection has been reaelied in the picturisatiou of “It Winter Comes,” at the Town Hall on Monday and Tuesday next. For those who have read A. S. M. Hutchinson’s novel, the unique and original character’s of the novelist seem to live and breathe before the eye. For those who have not read the book, the picture is entirely different and refreshing in its individuality. Critics are unanimous in saying the film is “greater than the' book.” It is impossible to imagine a more perfect Mark Sabre, the puzzle-headed, lovable idealist, than Percy Marmont. Ann Forrest plays the charming, true heart mate of Sabre. Margaret Feilding is Mabel, his nagging wife, whilst the difficult, role of Efifie, the unwed mother, is in the 'capable hands of Gladys Leslie. Popular prices, l/- and 2/-, children half price. On Saturday night “The Glorious Fool” will be screened. Also comedy entitled “A Hula Honeymoon,” and hi test Gazette and English Budget.
MUSGROVE CELEBRITY VAUDEVILLE. ROYAL THEATRE TO-NIGHT. The above Company wijl appear in the Royal Theatre this evening. The Daily. News, in commenting on a, recent performance in the Taranaki district, states that bright, snappy dialogue, parlour tricks, and sparkling wit combined to make up an entertaining programme. Brennan and Donald Stuart proved themselves to be fun makers of the highest class and kept things moving briskly the whole time they were on the stage. Alias Ida Newton, of sparkling eyes, aiul ready wit puts plenty of “pep” into her work. Mr Brennan also contributed some duo turns. Signor Sarti is a tenor of note, having toured with the Sistine Choir and his four songs were sung ■with deep feeling and completely charmed the audience. The company also possesses numerous talent, all of whom are first-class artists.
