COMPULSORY WIRELESS ON COASTAL VESSELS.
RIPPLE DISASTER. Wellington, Yesterday. As the result oi' the Ripple disaster regulations regarding wireless on ships are to be overhauled. A statement to this effect was made in the House to-day by the Minister of Marine (Mr Anderson). Unlit the Ripple disaster occurred, he said, if had never occurred to him that vessels of that size trading on the coast would require wireless, lie was afraid that the Ripple inquiry, which was now being arranged, would uot be as satisfactory as could be wished, because all on board bad been drowned. He could assure the House that every consideration would be given lo the question of wireless installation. Great opposition would be shown to compelling small vessels to instal wireless, but be would be guided by the opiniou of the House. Instructions would be given to ensure that officers anti men had every facility for learning wireless work.
