GAS WORKS.

JUNE WORKING. Tlic amount of gas manufactured during the month of June was 560,000 e.ft., which with the amount in the holder on June Ist., 10,400 ft., made a total of 570,400 ft. During the month 438,500 ft. were used by consumers, 28,000 ft. in street lamps, 29,500 ft. at the works and there were 17,600 ft. in the holder on July Ist., making a total of 523,-000-ft., and leaving 46,800 ft., representing 8.2 per cent., unaccounted for. During the month 52 tons of coal were carbonised, producing 11,094 e.ft. to the ton. The receipts for the month totalled £339 5/7, and were made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £l2l 7/8, heat and power £ll4 17/2, coke sales, £32 10/5, tar sales £54 9/-, iillings £l3 4/4, miscellaneous 17/-. The expenditure for the month was made up as follows: —Coal £135 ' 10/7, salaries and wages £46 5/8, i liftings £l2 0/11, meter repairs £23 11/5, engine oil £3 3/6, repairs £3 7/3, tools £3 3/9, cartage and freight £1 5/3, stores £2 9/11, sundries 15/1, interest and sinking fund £59 11/8, a total of £29111/--The gas manager reported as follows at last night’s Council meeting:— "The apparatus is in fair condition and working staisfactorily. Repairs were made to the triangle lamp during the month. There is still a good demand for coke.” —Adopted.
