OUR NEW GOVERNOR-GENERAL
ADMIRAL SIB JOHN DE ROBECK MENTIONED. London, August 8. The “Daily Mail" says it is expected Admiral de Robeck will succeed Viscount Jellicoe as Governor General of New Zealand in November. It is believed the appointment will be made in response to New 'Zealand’s wishes. Admiral de Robeck to-day interviewed Mr J. H. Thomas (Secretary of State for the Colonies). [Admiral Sir John Michael de Robeck, Ist Bart., has' been Com-mander-in-i Chief of the Atlantic Fleet since 1922, and of the Mediterranean Fleet from 1919 to 1922. He commanded the naval force in the Dardanelles during the time of the landing, and subsequently was appointed High Commissioner in Constantinople. He is 62 years of age.]
