BOWLING.
The annual genera! meeting of the T.ovin Dowling Club was held on Afonday evening. The report showed that the Club had had a successful year, financially. the balance showing a credit of .€8 Ifi/fi. with subscriptions totalling £lO 12 f - still to come in. The afternoon tea system showed a profit of £<i 0/0. on the season.
The report concludes —“The sea--,<m just closed completed the 3rd year of the flub in its new status as an incorporated body, and since the property was acquired from the company. The third year in the life of any body is usually considered l lie most difficult and since the club has come through successfully we look forward to a bright future and the consideration of better accommodation and beautifying of grounds in the club’s properly.” The balance-sheet showed the following figures: —Receipts: Bnlance 1022-23, £lO 10/8, subscriptions £lO5 13/-. afternoon tea surplus £f> 0/0, and other small amounls, bringing the total to £l3O 10/5. Expenditure: —Caretaker £73 18/-, interest £2l, lawn mower and scythe £7 12/5, and several amounts mnl'Zig a total of £l2l 13/8, and leaving a credit balance of £8 16/9 The election of officers resulted as follows: — President: Mr M. Suhan;_ vicepresident: Mr C. H. Pyke: secretary and treasurer: Mr J. Casey (re-elected); management committee: Messrs J. D. Brown, P. Clements junr., Challies, Rankin, Percy. It was decided to raise £IOO by mortgage for the purpose of extending the pavilion. Members offered to supply labour free, and it was decided to treat the matter as one of urgency. It was have the opening day on Wednesday, October Bth. The subscription for the coming year was fixed at £3 10/-, with a rebate of 10/- on subscriptions paid I,v December 31sL
