FOXTON STATE SCHOOL.
RESIGNATION OF MR. DAVIDSON.
At last night’s meeting of the local State school Committee, Mr A. McR.. Davidson, acting headmaster, formally tendered his resignation. In a letter to the Committee, Mr Davidson stated that he had accepted an appointmenl to a position in Christchurch. “I cannot allow the occasion (o pass,” wrote Mr Davidson, “without expressing my heart IVlt gratitude to the members of the Committee for their hearty co-oper-ation and zealous efforts to forward (he status of the school. If during mv career as a teacher, I am favoured with the loyal support of as earnest a body of gentlemen, I shall he more than satisfied.”
In reply to the chairman, Mr Davidson said lie would talc up his duties at Christchurch on September Slh. Tin had delayed his departure as long as possible so that as little inconvenience ns possible would he caused lo the incoming master in regard to examinations, etc. The chairman expressed the Committee's sincere regret at Mr Davidson's departure which he said would he shared by the staff, pupils, and parents. Mr Davidson had pro- 1 ved himself an expert and enthusiastic teacher, and the children had made wonderful progress under him. His qualifications fitted him to assume the headmnstership of nnv primary school of this or higher grade and did the regulations permit, (hey would have been only too pleased to have retained him in that position. He hoped an opportunity- would lie aflorded parents, children and" commit tee to fittingly mark their appreciation of his services prior to his departure.
