“The Man from Snowy River,” A. B. (“Banjo”)' Paterson, Angus and Robertson,. Sydney. —With the latest mail came copies of the wellknown Australian author’s works in the form of a popular edition. Accompanying the “Alan from Snowy River” —already greatly popularised by the film version—are the equally pleasing volumes embracing “Saltbush Bill, J. G. and other Verses,” “Rio Grande” and the novel -•An Outback Marriage.” All four books are well printed in a convenient size and become a valuable addition to the shelves at the moderate price of . 2/6 per volume. There can be no doubt that A. B. Paterson has won for himself a foremost and lasting name amongst Australian and Now Zealand authors, and volumes from his pen, as well as providing pleasing fare for the present day reader, are sure to be well handled and perhaps even more treasured in the future. Life in the Australian back-blocks, the theme of most of “Banjo” Paterson’s works, is dealt with a faithful manner which approval horn his critics. His Verses cover all phases and shades, of Australian life and are serious or happy at the whim of the author. ' '' ' 1 '■
