Daunevirke, Yesterday. Herbert Harold Payne, a middleaged and powerful man, was found apparently asleep on the premises of the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Association early this morning. He evidently had gained admit lance by breaking the glass in a door early in tin evening and amused himself by rifling,(lie till and then locked himself in an inner office where he was found asleep by the police about 2 a.m. He was charged at court: todav with burglary and stealing £4 ;i. money alld cheques.
