TAXATION OF RACING.
Dunedin, July 23. . During a discussion on taxation at the annual meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club Mr, Lough;-(-treasurer) said last year the club collected £21,000 from the public and,-Land-ed it to the Government. He asked if any other sporting body had to pay so much or were so overtaxed for the privilege., ofr enjoying s-.-its sport. They did not object to paying a fair share of taxation but the taxatiou they were paying was “over the odds.’’ Mr A. (J. Hanlon was re-elected president.
