MAY WORK INC. During the month "I May nS 1,000 ti of gas was manufactured, which with the amount in the holder on I lie Ist of the month. Ib.OOOfL, made a total of 590,000 ft. The amount of gas used by consumers was 500,500 ft. in street lamps 27,000ft.* in tlie works 21,000 ft., and there was 10..|()oft. left in the holder on June I si. leaving 558,000 ft., representing 0.2 per cent, nnnceounlcd for. Fifty-two lons of coal was carbonised, yielding 11,173 e.fr. of gas to the ton. and producing 1] tons Oewi. of coke. The expenditure for the month totalled £203 0/8 and was made up as follows: —Coal £135 10-7. salaries and wages £l(s 14, 2, fittings .CIS (. 5, meter repairs Cl 3.0 8, working expenses 3/10, repairs £4 2/2, engine repairs and oil 15/6, cartage freight etc. 18/6, stores .Cl 16/6, rates £23 10/8.
The earnings for the month totalled £337 18/4, and were made up as follows: — Cas sales (lighting.) 1133 12/8, heat and power £134 0s tOd. coke sales £35 10/-. tar sales £2 15/-, fittings £2B 10/2, miscellaneous £2 8/8. The gas manager reported that the apparatus at the works was in satisfactory working order, with the exception of the large exhauster, which was under repair. The wooden lamp post at the Duncan St. corner lias been replaced by an iron one and the coal shed repaired and tarred. —Adopted.
