THE YEAR'S TRANSACTIONS. Wellington, Last Night. At the lirst annual meeting of the New Zealand Breweries Ltd. held toha v, il was slated from the accounts presented for nine months, after making allowances for management charges, interest on debentures, necessary reserve for taxation, the company had made a gross profit of £452,550 from which bad been deducted tlie amount paid in beer duty £207,010, leaving a net profit of £85,040. The directors recommended that tile whole of the preliminary expenses, £14,424 be written oft’, £25,000 placed lo reserve ami a dividend ut the rate of ten per cent. per annum, absorbing £37,500 be paid, and the balance, £8,705 carried forward. The chairman said that of Customs charges, alcoholic beverages paid nearly sixteen per cent, of the total.
