MOUTOA SPINSTERS’ DANCE.
A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. Fur a number of years it has been the wish of some of the Moutoa people to erect uniaiueiil.-i.l gates at the Moutoa school. Some money was raised for this purpose and Ihe funds have been furl her added to by the effort: of Mrs Lampp and her helpers who organised a spinsters' dance which was held last Friday night. The halt was tastefully decorated vviln greenery, rhiiiese lanterns and coloured si reamers, which, with Ihe colours of ilic pretty frocks, made a good effect. The music was excellent and the floor was in good order. A lady M.C. in the person of Airs R. Johnston announced the dances and I lie “fables were turned" on the gentlemen, by the ladies haring the pri-rih-vc of asking the gentlemen to dance, which created much fun. Some of ihe younger and more timid uj Lit. lair sex were rather back-wa-d 'a asking the sterner sex (?) for deuces but some of the more ex-is?,rietic(-il ■, i . s bad no hesitation V. linfeit rin taking advantage of (heir opportunity! There were visitors from Shannon, Levin. M.-ma-i.iiii end Foxtail, and things went, v. ii ii a -wing from start to finish. A mo city in the shape of a balloon dance competition was watched with great interest. At 10.30 o'clock

During the i veiling Mrs Davcy and Air Ailken rendered musical items. A loyal friend of the school donated the money for the hive of the ball and the takings will be very aver pi able to Hie school committee who with the head master, wish to ihunk Airs Lampp and all those who ■ willing!v helped her to make the fiance such a success, financially and otherwise.
