Sir; JAMES WILSON’S RETIREMENT.
sir duiia-. G. Wilson, who has held ih<- pre-'ideney of the Forestry League sinca its establishment in ]()l(i. ha-, decided to retire from the position and will not seek re-elec-tion. At the last meeting of the League tiic following motion was passed: “That this Council learns with extreme regret of the contemplated retirement from the presidency of the league of Sir James G. Wilson, who has held the honoured position since the inception of the league in 191(1 and desires to record it> high appreciation of the untiring zeal and capable guidance during the eight- years of the league's activities. The 1 hanks of the community are due to Sir James tor tlie important and influential part be took in (he formation of the league, which was partially responsible for (he inauguration of a definite forest policy and the establishment of (he State Forest Service. It is hoped that Sir James may long be spared to watch ibe progress of the League, assured at all times of his kindly interest in our operations." Mr James Deaus, of llomcbush, Canterbury, an enthusiast on forestry, has consented to nomination for the position.
