DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.
“Parent'’ writes us as follows in connection with the agitation for*the establishment of a district High .school at Foxton: — "May 1 make so bold as to say uniu faculties for secondary work appear to me to be one weak link ni inc cuucutioual life' of the Foxion community, li seems preposterous that children should have to travel such a distance as the Foxion post-primary children do for .M-condary naming. A railway journey occupying three hours of the day is not calculated Lo be much good 10 a youngster s education. luc alternative of hoarding is all very well fur luosc who can afford u-, hut it seems to me quite arnumher of Foxlon's children must at present have to be denied the advantages of secondary education because of the lack of reasonable facilities, i trust, therefore, that your cocmitlee wiii do its best to bring about its establishment.” I_\\E may add that the committee and Education Board have recommended the establishment of a District High School and the Department is giving the matter attention. One of the flrst essentials will be extra accommodation which a present is insufficient. J
