MISSING TEACHER

• BODY RECOVERED IN RIVER

ABOVE WIIIROKTNO BRIDGE,

On Thursday morning Air J. Kelly accompanied by his son, Mi 1 P. Kelly, discovered the body of a man taught in some drift wood forming a small island in a big eddy about eight miles up-stream from Foxton, while they were engaged in procuring firewood from the river, which was in a state of flood. They immediately made their discovery known to the local police and Constables Owen and Ryan set out by launch in recover the body, which was brought down to Foxton and placed in the morgue. At noon yesterday the body was identified its that of Ernest S-taart Afcßean, aged 34 years, a school Leaeher by profession, who resided nl 39 Albert Street, Palmerston N. The deceased was reported missing to the Palmerston X. police on April 27 lust and later it was reported that the body of a man had been seen floating in the Manawatu river near Fitzroy bend, but at the time it was not recovered. The police had pursued a vigilant search fur the l)i«lv ever since, Out no trace of it was found until discovered by Mr Kelly on Thursday, 'flic body, was in an advanced stage of decomposition and was identified by the clothing in which it was garbed. An inquest will he held at Palmerston North in due course.
