THE MANAWATU ELECTORATE

A DEFINITE ANNOUNCEMENT.

(To The Editor.) Sir, —In view of the prospect of an early election, 1 have been asked by some prominent Liberal and Labour supporters to make a definite announcement of my candidature for the Manawatu Seat. There is a strong feeling here that, the Manawatu District will never get* fair treatment at the hands of the present Government which is continually blocking all ita chances of development and progress in favour of Palmerston N. (a Conservative stronghold) and that a change of Government is necossary iu the interests of this District. To this end, 1 have definitely decided, in the event of an election, to contest. Lhe Manawatu Seat in the Liberal and Labour interests. 1 am ready to commence an active campaign immediately an •.-Action is announced, and will take the public platform in every part of Uus district at the first oppor-. tunity. I have also been invited to speak in othre electorates, where I am well known, with the object of helping to defeat the present Government and secure a Government which is more in sympathy with the Liberal and Labour ideals expounded by the late Mr Seddon, —I am, etc P. L. HOLI^NGS. Foxton, 26th June, 1924. [Advertisement.]
